Mayor Francis Slay, who has long been criticized for his neglect of north St. Louis, said he supports the decision to move the Annie Malone parade downtown.
"We do not get involved in these decisions," the mayor said in a statement. "If the Director and Board believe that it is in the best interest of their organization to move the parade downtown then we support their decision."
Also, a report on KMOV.com makes the following claim: "Many say moving the parade out of North St. Louis will promote unity."

Interesting choice of pictures for Comptroller Green and Mayor Slay.
Oh, and by the way, during Mayor Slay's tenure there has been more revitalization happening in North City than in how many years??

In all honesty, I might be a little biased with the photos. I did take the photo of the mayor and I think it really shows his dark, mysterious side. While the picture of the comptroller is kind of boring, I think.

Well, of course, the comptroller is much better looking anyway.
Sorry Francis.

The marketplace makes development happen. Anyone could be mayor right now, taking credit for what's happening.
If Clarence Harmon was still in office, this boom would be going on much the same. (BTW the same guys are pulling the strings that really make things happen.)
