Crews getting ready for Mayor's Ball

By Antonio D. French

Filed Friday, February 24 at 10:28 AM

Crews are in City Hall today making the final preparations for the Mayor's Mardi Gras Ball Masquerade tonight.

The annual black tie charitable event is produced by the Mardi Gras Foundation Inc. and hosted by Mayor and Mrs. Francis G. Slay. Organizers call the event a "veritable who's who of St. Louis."

What organizations benefit from this event? How much money does it generate for those organizations?

Who makes the guest list? How much are tickets? Does anyone get free tickets?

My neighbor apparently knows Slay, he was going to give me some tickets, but I do not have money for a tux rental...being in college sucks.

Tickets start at 150...definately top shelf.

tix started at $100. proceeds go to projects in Soulard like the new dog park, neighborhood year-round clean-up and the gateway greening flowers around city hall. It is not invite only, anyone can go.
It really is a great party. Kudos to all involved in Mardi
Gras it is really becoming a St. Louis tradition.
I had friends in from out of town, they had to go to the county for rooms, since the city hotels were all booked. Also the cabby who brought them down to Soulard said that Mardi Gras is the cabby's biggest day of the year... better than the final 4!
