"Originally built for $95 million, the centre sold in 2004 at a foreclosure sale for $5.4 million." John Steffen, of Pyramid Construction, has now purchased the building and plans to turn it into condos.
Martin Van Der Werf has the story.

This is probably for the better. I hope that in the new design, the storefronts will actually be out on the street, where they should be, contributing to Downtown street life.
I would be a little more excited if this wasn't yet another Downtown condo conversion (yawn...how sustainable is this?), but really, this is one Downtown facade I won't miss when it's gone.

Condos are more sustainable than apartments, as the new owners will have stake in the project. And the more residential added to Downtown, the more likely offices and retail will locate here too.

I think the real question is, will people be allowed to take photos there once they've taken up residency?

What a week for Pyramid! The power of connections is really working out well, no? First, they get their Keystone Place bailed out (the senior housing project seems a ruse at best) *AND* the attention diverted onto McDonalds, then they get the Centre.
